Zelda: Link to the Past
Wanted to say sorry for the lack of posts this week, got caught up in the holidays, sorry guys. Weather or not its a good thing, I'm back now lol. Have spent the week playing one of my personal all time favorite games, Zelda Link to the Past. If you haven't picked this game up on your Super Nes, you better do it. For its age, this game is massive, the world is swarming with hidden areas, bonus games and hidden little Easter eggs. The puzzles are inventive and non repetitive, only complaint is sometimes it doesn't seem to explain very well were you need to head next. The story is decent, and the amount of tools and gadgets is pretty large, if not even larger than most of the newer zelda games. At times you even have to switch from past to future just to solve certain puzzles or change things between worlds. This is a game that will keep you busy for hours and hours, it's storyline is pretty long, and with the added side stuff you will be in at least 30-50 hours probably. If you are a fan of the Zelda series this is a must try game. I sold plenty of my sad life to this game, its addicting and you wont want to stop playing once you escape the first dungeon. Btw if you look at the pic above you will see there are mario pictures in some of the houses in game.

Origonal Mario Shortcut (1985)
In the original Mario, if you don't feel like doing the first few worlds, there is a shortcut that lets you choose to skip the first ones. On level 1-2, the underground one, head through about 3/4's of the level and you will see two sets of red elevators. If you jump from the second one you can actually get above the map on the the top layer of bricks, follow this for a little ways and you will come to a small room with 3 tubes that head to either level 2,3,or 4. This is good for people who have beaten the game before and don't feel like doing the beginning stuff all over again.

Suprise Suprise its a Mario...........
Not going to spend an incredible amount of time here, everyone knows what mario is. I feel like he deserves a spot in my list because any game that can be remade this many times, and still bring new things to the table is worth mentioning. Many people grew up on this, and over the years this midgety plumber man has become one of the main staples in the gaming industry. Almost any game that carries the Mario name is worth picking up, or at least giving a try. A good place to start if you arent familiar with Mario would be Mario Allstars on the Super Nintendo, try to get the one that includes Super Mario World because its amazing. I also need to mention Mario 64, of all the mario games, besides maybe mario kart, this one is my favorite. Its the first time Mario whent 3d, cameras tend to be a bit wonky at times but everything else about this game rocked.

Tetris 1989
Tetris, one of the few puzzle games that I honestly enjoy. There is something oddly satisfying about going back and playing the original, this game has been remade more times than I can count. The music is horrible and makes me want to stab myself with a spork, the frame rates are pretty bad and it lacks any 'special modes.' So what about this oldie keeps me playing for hours? I don't really know lol, I play tetris on facebook occasionally, and I have checked out some of the other remakes. Something about playing the original though is still addicting. When I was pretty young my parents used to love this game, they would bet and compete for the highest score and sometimes even I got included. Memories aside, keep the sound muted and give this a shot for old times sake. If you enjoy it check out the facebook version its quite addicting and competitive.
Banjo Kazooie - 3 cheato books
finally found all 3 of the cheato books (toot toot my awesome horn,) finding these will allow you to have 200 eggs 100 red feathers and 20 gold feathers. On the xbox version this is also an achievement fyi.
Book 1 - Behind Bubbly Goop Swamp there is a little log tunnel, head through the tunnel as banjo until you enter the snow covered room. up the hill to the left there is a block of ice blocking a small hole, break this ice block and then head back to Bubbly Goop. You have to get Mumbo Jumbo to turn you into a crock, he's located in the middle of the hedge maze, then you leave Bubbly Goop and you enter the small hole behind the ice block to find the first book.
Book 2 - In Mad Monster Mansion get turned into a pumpkin, then leave the level and head back to the room with all the lava, (the one you got here in with the skinny ledges.) To the left there is a very narrow winding path that you want to follow, once you get up to the platform there is a small pumpkin sized hole at the back you want to enter.
Book 3 - In the beginning area of Rusty Bucket Bay, there are 3 holes in the wall that are to high to reach. Throughout the area are located 3 switches that you need to hit to raise the water level. After hitting the 3rd switch the water will be high enough to reach the top hole, but you also have a fairly strict timer. You have to swim as quick as you can to the now accessible hole, inside is cheato.
Banjo Washing Machine! - just because I'm a huge fan of lame comedy lol.... in the sandcastle in Rusty Bucket Bay enter the code wishywashybanjo to unlock washing machine banjo.

Emulation with a controller!
Just wanted to add a little fun fact for any of the emulation noobs out there. An xbox 360 controller can be used to play most of your old school games, try for a wired xbox controller because the wireless ones require an adapter. Just plug it in to your computer, let the drivers download on their own and then set up the keys how you like them in your emulators controls options menu. Honestly any PC control pad can be used, but with so many people owning their own home systems this can be a nice money saving treat.
